My Beautiful Boy

We had a five day weekend here with the four day break over easter and they boys school had a pupil free day yesterday, so today was the first day back after five days.

Corey just flat out refused to go to school again today, he often does this after a long break.  There wasn’t really any signs of it this morning in that he got dressed in his uniform and got into the car but just refused to get out of the car when we got to school.

It gets really annoying too when I get people say to me ‘why don’t you just make him’?  That is easier said than done and I’m sure if they had done it for as long as I had they would probably also get to the point of just not having the energy to make him.  I can’t physically force him to go anymore, he is just getting too big and too strong for me to do that.

I went into his classroom though and got some work for him and made him sit and do the work all day.  He didn’t get to watch TV, play playstation or play the computer – just schoolwork and that was it.

Staying home didn’t improve his afternoon mood any either.  Usually he is an angel at school and just explodes when I pick him up which we put down to him keeping the tension in all day and just letting it out when he got home.  However today he was home and was quite relaxed and in a good mood all day, but as soon as we picked the other two boys up he went straight into the normal horrible mood.

What do you do?

The boys have friends over after school on a Friday – that’s my rules that they only have friends over on Fridays or weekends, but I think I might have to not let Corey have any friends over if he doesn’t go to school.  There has to be something that will make him go to school.  I can’t home school him surely I would get to a stage where I wouldn’t understand the work so how could I teach him.  Plus he really needs to at some stage go out into the real world and learn to fit in.

I have an appointment tomorrow with his psychiatrist which is just me alone with him without Corey, so that should be good.  Then Corey has an appointment with him on Monday.

Anyway, better go and cook dinner and try and get them into bed early tonight.
